The Owl in Celtic lore is a creature of the shadows and of the Otherworld. When mentioned in myths legends and folklore it appears only when spoken of in hushed whispers and usually comes with a warning - for it is an animal of the unknown, nocturnal otherworld.
Sometimes thought to represent Cailleach the goddess/hag known as a powerful wise woman, fortune-teller, sorceress and the worker of charms.
